Soil sensors
Moisture, salinity and temperature measured at several depths, with readings sent at regular intervals.
VWC % · EC dS/m · °CWe bring soil sensors, satellite imagery and weather data into one dashboard, so you know when to irrigate, how much to fertilize and where a problem is starting. Built for Gulf heat and saline water.
Gulf farms face four pressures at once, and every irrigation or fertilization decision needs accurate data. The figures below come from official sources and peer-reviewed studies.
Reference evapotranspiration in Saudi Arabia exceeds 15 mm a day in summer[5], so a fixed irrigation schedule either wastes water or leaves crops thirsty at the peak of the heat.
Agriculture in Saudi Arabia used 9,356 million cubic metres of non-renewable groundwater in 2023[7], so every cubic metre saved has real value.
Water from 180 wells in Al-Kharj ranged from 1.05 to 10.15 dS/m, averaging 3.0 dS/m[8], and salt building up in the root zone cuts yield before it shows on the leaves[2].
Large areas are hard to monitor by hand, and problems are often found too late.
We start with what your farm actually needs and add layers step by step.

Tasks · Reminders · FilesEvery farming system has different needs. These are examples of what can be monitored and improved in the region’s most common systems.
Year-round production in a controlled environment, and the most common choice for vegetables in the Gulf because of the heat.
In practice: temperature and humidity sensors inside the house, with vapour pressure deficit (VPD) used to time ventilation and cooling, and drip irrigation driven by soil moisture.
°C · RH % · VPD kPaIn practice: automatic pad-and-fan cooling, monitoring of CO₂ and photosynthetically active light, and fertigation scheduled by solar radiation.
CO₂ ppm · PAR µmol/m²/sIn practice: comparing temperature and radiation inside and outside to choose the right shade level, and tracking soil moisture to cut irrigation on cooler days.
Shade % · VWC %In practice: round-the-clock monitoring of nutrient solution salinity, pH and dissolved oxygen, with drain percentage used to fine-tune feeding in NFT and substrate systems.
EC · pH · DO mg/L · Drain %Large areas where water is the biggest operating cost, and where precise scheduling saves the most.
In practice: drip irrigation under plastic mulch, moisture and salinity sensors in the root zone, and NDVI maps to catch weak patches early.
VWC % · EC dS/m · NDVIIn practice: daily centre-pivot scheduling from evapotranspiration, satellite tracking of field growth to time each cut, and less irrigation right before and after cutting.
ET₀ mm/day · NDVIIn practice: irrigation matched to critical growth stages such as tillering, flowering and grain fill, and nitrogen applied according to field variability in the imagery.
Growth stage · N kg/haA long-term investment where every irrigation or fertilization decision affects yields for years to come.
In practice: moisture sensors at 30, 60 and 90 cm because palm roots run deep, irrigation adjusted by season and fruit stage, and monitoring of salt build-up around the trunk.
VWC % @ 30·60·90 cmIn practice: regulated deficit irrigation at set stages to improve fruit quality and save water, with close moisture control at fruit set and ripening to prevent fruit cracking.
RDI · VWC %In practice: irrigation scheduled to tree demand at each stage, monitoring of soil and water salinity, and satellite imagery to follow orchard health across large areas.
Kc · EC · NDVIIn practice: close moisture and salinity monitoring because these trees are more sensitive to salt, and protecting flowers and young fruit from heat stress with well-timed evening irrigation.
EC dS/m · °CAn agronomist walks the farm and maps field boundaries by GPS, then takes soil samples at two depths (0–30 and 30–60 cm) for salinity, pH and nutrient analysis. Irrigation water is tested for salinity and sodium adsorption ratio, the irrigation network is checked for distribution uniformity, and crops, growth stages and wells are documented.
pH · EC · SAR · DU %Soil moisture and salinity sensors are installed at two depths in the active root zone, placed according to soil type and the field variability seen in NDVI imagery. A weather station measures temperature, humidity, wind and solar radiation, and all devices connect wirelessly over LoRaWAN or the mobile network, without stopping farm work.
LoRaWAN · 4G · Rs W/m²Reference evapotranspiration is calculated daily with the FAO-56 Penman-Monteith equation[1] and multiplied by the crop coefficient (Kc) for each growth stage. The allowed depletion of soil moisture is set from the soil’s water-holding capacity, and a leaching requirement is added to keep salts from building up in the root zone[2].
ET₀ (FAO-56) · Kc · MAD % · LRRegular reports measure water productivity (kg of crop per cubic metre), compare water applied with actual crop demand, and track soil salinity and NDVI through the season. At the end of the season the results are reviewed to adjust the irrigation and fertilization plan for the next one.
WP kg/m³ · NDVI · EC trendPhase one covers the GCC countries, followed by the rest of the Arab region.
Countries highlighted in gold are in phase one.
